http://www.hockeybuzz.com/blog/Eklund/My-Last-Shots-of-the-Nightand-a-plea-to-the-great-fans-of-the-SJ-Sharks/1/27718 So, I’m out enjoying this beautiful sunny day here in the Philly burbs, and I get a great, big, smelly, shit sandwich of a blog brought to my attention.  In case some of you haven’t read it yet the link is posted above.  This blog, and I use that term very loosely, was written by everyone’s favorite hack, Eklund.  Beyond everything else, just the fact that he exists in the same world as me makes me question all things that are good and holy in the universe, but that’s a story for another day.I have a few problems with what that jackass wrote.  What gives him the audacity to even begin to think that he qualifies to give any hockey advice to any team is beyond me.  And the fact that he states, and makes a very big deal out of the fact that, he was in attendance for the Flyers/Devils game last night and then goes on to offer “insight” on all the other games that took place yesterday is just in my opinion an act of complete and utter arrogance.  Who does this fuckhead think he is anyway? I mean, this is the same guy that gets all of his “inside info” and “rumors” from inside his own head while he’s sitting on the toilet taking his morning dump.  But, that fact aside I took most offense to what he wrote regarding the San Jose Sharks and their fan base.  I mean, what honest, red-blooded fan of the game wouldn’t have taken offense to what that asshat said?  Speaking from a fan’s standpoint here for a moment I would like to officially offer to Mr. Eklund the invitation to kiss my ass.  As a fan, of any sport, in any league, in any country, you have the right to show your emotions, voice your disapproval, and elate in the euphoric joys that go hand in hand with living and dying with your team of choice.  That is exactly what the Sharks’ fans are doing.  How dare you try and state that they shouldn’t boo or voice any opinions other than the bright sunny ones?  You’re such an ass.  That’s what fans do.  And being from Philly and being a Flyers fan, dickhead Eklund should be very familiar with that fact.The part of the “blog” that bothered me the most though is the part where he insinuated that the Sharks’ players needed the reassurance from the fans and they didn’t need to be reminded of any shortcomings.  Fuck you, they’re not helping.  If a fan doesn’t have passion and emotion then they have no business being a fan at all.  How do you know that the players are feeding off the negativity?  They are grown ass fucking men.  Maybe you’re a pansy ass crybaby, Mr. Eklund, but the men who play for the Sharks are not.  Do they like to be booed.  No, I’m sure they don’t.  Nobody would.  But, if you are suggesting that they can’t handle it, then you are  an even bigger idiot than I ever gave you credit for, and I think you’re an enormous, boot licking, no talent, lying, sack of shit idiot.  So that’s saying something.  All I want to know is who died and made you fan patrol boss?  The Sharks are a good team, with class-act players, class-act management, and world class fans.  So, fuck off with your preaching, self promoting, hypocritical, nonsensical, meaningless bullshit.  What you have done is ask fans to basically be indifferent towards the sport they love.  Hockey isn’t always Care Bears, Smurfs, and cuddly puppies.  Sometimes it stings to know the people who cheer for you also will turn on you in an instant.  But that’s why MEN play this game.  They can handle it.  They are familiar with it.And as long as there is hockey, hockey players, hockey games, and hockey fans, there WILL be booing.I just can’t even begin to understand what soap box you climbed up on when you decided to spew out all  the horseshit you wrote, but I hope you fall off and fall hard.  The hockey universe would be so much better off without an Eklund disgracing it on a daily basis.  But, you know what they say.  If wishes were horses…….There are two things I can be sure of.  Hockey fans will always be passionate in good times AND in bad.  And Eklund will always be a douchebag.

Now, it’s no secret how much dislike I have for Sidney Crosby personally.  And I do understand that we are force fed his name on a daily basis by the media.  I don’t understand why anyone still believes that he is the best player in the league when he’s not even the best player on his own team.  But, that’s all said and done.  I’ve beaten that dog over and over again. But, now we are in the middle of the 2010 Winter Olympics.  An International tournament, if you will.  Yet, all we still hear during this time is Crosby, Crosby, Crosby. I surfed over to NHL.com this morning and saw something that just broke the camel’s back with me.  It’s something that I’ve been seeing since these Winter Games began, and even before.  There was a headline that had the phrase “Crosby and Canada” in it.  Not even TEAM Canada.  If the media wants to constantly forget about his NHL team when they report and call them “Crosby and the Penguins” that’s fine with me.  I don’t like it, but to be honest, I hate that team so I don’t really give a shit.  But, now you’re dissing an entire nation’s team?  Give me a break.  If I was one of his team mates on Team Canada I’d be pissed. It’s bad enough that we all had to sit through a Crosby feature, by NBC, during the Team USA game, but now the media is acting like he is the ONLY player on that team and everyone else who made the cut is secondary or inconsequential.  It’s just not right.  How about giving some time to Rick Nash?  A superstar who gets no love at all.  Or maybe Shea Weber?  An amazing defensive talent who never gets his due. Or maybe even tell us about the future superstar Drew Doughty?  There are many great stories on Team Canada.  Maybe I’m just biased.  I like my players to be men.  NOT whining, sniveling, diving, complaining, crying babies.  But, the bottom line here is that ALL these guys work hard to get here.  ALL of them are proud to be here.  They ALL love this game of hockey and now they get to represent their home country.  It’s an honor and for some a once in a lifetime experience. The hockey writing community, NBC, and other sports outlets need to recognize, and do something about that.  Personally, I think that the best thing that could happen to the hockey world would be for Sidney Crosby to fall off the face of the earth.  Then we can all get back to a propaganda free NHL and Hockey universe.  And THAT would be a beautiful thing!

Everybody knows that there is nothing on earth that quite compares to opening night at your home NHL Arena.  I’ve seen alot of these, and they ALL get me so pumped that I can’t think straight.  I don’t know what it is about this one .  Maybe it’s the fact that this year is full of hope and excitement and the absolute fact that this team can go all the way.  But, this year’s Flyers’ home opener video was one of the very best I’ve seen to date.  The game was a guaranteed classic…………..so is this video.  In case you weren’t at the the game, here it is.http://flyers.nhl.tv/team/console.jsp?catid=774&id=48072
